CCST 9037 Mathematics: A Cultural Heritage

This course gives a historical account on how mathematics was developed as a work of human endeavor with cultural, intellectual and social contexts. I develop course materials, tutorial materials as well as the assessment. I deliver lectures on Mathematics and Education, Two Mathematics Cultures and A Few Mathematical Lives, Mathematics and Art, as well as Euclidean vs. Non-Euclidean Geometry. In addition, I facilitate small group discussion on issues such as Is Mathematics Discovered or Invented?
